The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of June 2017, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,736,846 net tons, a 1.0 percent increase from the 7,660,969 net tons shipped in the previous month, May 2017, and a 1.4 percent increase from the 7,628,953 net tons shipped in June 2016. Shipments year-to-date in 2017 are 45,459,086 net tons, a 3.0 percent increase vs. 2016 shipments of 44,138,403 net tons for six months.
A comparison of June shipments to the previous month of May shows the following changes: hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, up 1 percent, hot rolled sheets, no change and cold rolled sheets, down 4 percent.
