Steel Joist Institute Offers Webinar on "Composite Joist - New Second Edition Specifications, New Technical Digest No. 13" Webinar on August 16, 2017

 The Steel Joist Institute (SJI) is again hosting the “Composite Joist – New 2nd Edition Specifications, New Technical Digest No. 13” webinar. It is scheduled for Wednesday, August 16 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. (EST), followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.

Composite steel construction has been recognized for a number of years as one of the most economical systems for building floors. It has been shown that composite steel joists deliver an economical shallow floor system with reduced floor-to-floor heights by providing easy routing of HVAC ducts, plumbing and electrical conduits through the steel joist open web system. This webinar will focus on information contained within SJI’s soon-to-be published Technical Digest 13, “Composite Steel Joists.”

Attendees will learn potential benefits of using SJI’s CJ-Series composite joists in floor construction, computational aspects of composite steel joist behavior, how to efficiently utilize SJI’s Composite Steel Joist Catalog, and guidelines for installing welded shear studs onto the chords of CJ-Series joists and serviceability aspects of composite steel joists. The webinar will also cover preliminary estimating of CJ-Series costs using SJI’s new Floor Bay Analysis Tool, as well as typical projects for CJ-Series composite joists.

Individual and site registration is now available online at steeljoist.org/augustwebinar. Individual registration cost is $75. Each person who registers will receive his or her own link to the webinar and earn 0.15 CEUs or 1.5 PDHs and receive a certificate of completion from SJI. Site registration is also available for $300, allowing multiple attendees from the same company to utilize one link to the webinar.
